I received the Hera Rouge Holic lipstick as a gift, and I immediately couldn’t help but marvel at the packaging. After reading up on this Korean brand launched under the Amore Pacific group, I learned that the modern package was “inspired from the fashionable image of a Seoul woman in a pair of black pants with a copper gold belt and represents a woman with an attractive, refined look.” Ahhhh, I see. That’s very specific. They put such thought into the the copper accents. And notice the actual lipstick has “Hera” imprinted on it. Impressive. The tube also closes with the satisfying “click” that makes you feel secure that the cap won’t come off in your purse.
Moving on from its looks, it was time to see how well the product worked. I have the color “Modest Rose”, which swatches to a more coral color than the pink color of the lipstick.
Upon applying the lipstick, I was amazed at how creamy and moisturizing it felt on my lips. I had planned on prepping my usually chapped lips with some balm, but I had forgotten. So I was a bit apprehensive about how drying the lipstick would be on my already dry lips. It felt fantastic! And that feeling and the color lasted for 6 hours. The lipstick lost the battle during dinner, but I had all-you-can-eat wings. I don’t think many lip products can handle that kind of carnage. I am VERY happy with how well it maintained itself for the 6 hours before dinner! I mean, HOW?
The Hera website gives some insight into its magical qualities:
1. The rich color you see is the same color you get on your lips
With True Shade Pigment, the lipstick gives your lips true color – the red and pink that you see – and adds glow in light. Plus, 31 colors inspired from Seoul make your lips look luscious and fashionable at all times.
2. Creamy, melt-in texture
The highly elastic texture feels like CC cream on the lips and provides a creamy soft sensation on the lips when applied with comfortable fitting after application.
3. Rich, long-lasting color and gloss
A highly elastic texture with high glossy polymers that deliver long-lasting color power and gloss as well.
4. Smooth moisturizing lipstick
Vegetable squalene film effective at moisturizing the skin and high glossy polymers prevent loss of moisture from the lips to keep them moisturized and smooth for a long time.
So I think #1 was a little off since my “Modest Rose” came out a little more “Modest Coral Rose”. But yessss to weird squalene oils and glossy polymers keeping the lip texture niiiiice! Creamy soft sensation indeed! If you’re ok with spending $35ish for a lovely lip product, then I highly recommend trying this Rouge Holic lipstick. As I mentioned before, I get worried about lipstick drying out my lips. So I usually stick with lipgloss. But this lipstick gave me happy, hydrated lips!
